Mollie Cleggett Competition The Mollie Cleggett 3rd round match will be played against Bearsted on Wednesday 28 July (one rink home, one rink away). Tuesday Night Triples The club Tuesday Night Triples Competition will commence on Tuesday 3rd August. Look on the men’s notice board for team (and catering) information. Please pay the £1.50 competition fee to your team captain on or before 3rd August. Congratulations Congratulations to Carol Morton and Lydia Munn who have won through the rounds of the EBA Women’s National 55 and Over Pairs competition and will now represent Kent against Warwickshire in Round 1 of the Finals (last 32 teams) at Royal Leamington Spa on Friday 13th August. Ladies’ 3-Wood The Ladies’ 3-Wood competition will take place on Sunday 15th August, starting at 2pm. Please put your name on the list on the ladies’ notice board if you want to play. Dress code is Greys. There will be a pooled tea. KCC Grant We were pleased to welcome Mrs Jenny Whittle, the KCC Member for Maidstone Rural East, who visited us during the club’s Triples Competition on Saturday 24th July. Mrs Whittle took time to speak to a number of members about the club and its place in the wider community. She was especially interested in the wide age range of the membership. We were delighted to receive from her a local project grant to help with maintenance of the green. Club Triples Day (for the Anniversary Trophy) A good time was had by all and the trophy was won by the team of Don Finch, Ben Harris and Richard Southby. Bernard Annand Memorial Shield The 2nd Round match against Charing (away) was played on Sunday 18th July 2010 (awaiting notification of the result). Maidstone Triples League - Knockout Competitions In the Stuart Smith Team Knockout Cup (Triples), Lenham ‘B’ won against Headcorn ‘B’ in the 2nd Round. Lenham ‘A’ lost their match against Police ‘A’ in the 1st Round. In the John Francis Knockout Cup (Singles), Lenham have drawn Police (Home) in the 1st Round (to be played by 1st August). Club Competitions This year’s Finals Day is Sunday 29th August - please put your name down on the list on the Equipment Store door if you want to take part in the barbeque (£6 per head) Men’s Yardstick Competition This new competition took place on Sunday 27th June and was well received by all, despite the oppressively hot day. The semi-finals were won by David Ellis and Doug Warner. They will meet in the final on Sunday 29th August. Petanque Day The club has been invited again this year to play with teams from the White Horse on 10th October. Please add your name to the list on the men’s notice board if you are interested.
