Oliver and Barbara Jones Oliver, who recently celebrated his 93rd birthday, has moved to Mont Calm Residential Home, 70-74 Bower Mount Road, Maidstone, Kent, ME16 8AT (Telephone: 01622 752117). He would be delighted to maintain contact with LBC members, former members, friends and bowls acquaintances. Members are invited to read the letter from Barbara which has been posted on the Ladies’ notice board. Men’s County Competitions 2012 The draws for this year’s competitions have been posted on the Kent County Bowling Association’s Web site. Click here and then click on the KCBA link. Apology The Webmaster apologises to all those who have been wondering why there have been no updates to this Web site since the beginning of December. This was due to a major equipment malfunction (computer, not Webmaster) which has now been temporarily resolved. Hopefully all will now be OK and a permanent solution will be in place shortly. Contributors are encouraged to resume emailing in their news and items. Also, the Webmaster would like to thank June’s friends in Scotland for their kind comments about the Web site. Friday Night Mixed Triples - Indoors Lenham have entered a team in this winter’s Friday Night Mixed Triples League at Mote Park Indoor BC. Matches are being played fortnightly. A Fixture List (with team selections) is on the main notice board. Bingo Bingo is well under way for the duration of the winter season. Meet every Wednesday, commencing at 7:30pm. Whist Drive The next Whist Drive will be on Saturday 4th February starting at 7:30pm. Beetle Drive This will be on Saturday 25th February at 8pm. £1 per head. Bring your own nibbles. Add your name to the list on the Equipment Cupboard door. Horse Racing Night This will be on Saturday 31st March at 8pm. £1 per head. Bring your own nibbles. Add your name to the list on the Equipment Cupboard door. New Year’s Eve Social Dance This seemed to go very well, raising a significant amount for club funds and enabling members to enjoy seeing in the New Year amongst friends. Terry and Joan Giles (who led the organising - thank you) are sufficiently encouraged to do it all again next year, but they need your feedback - please let them know what you liked and what you feel could have been improved. Spitfire Trophy Lenham were Runners Up in this year’s Spitfire Trophy (formerly the Abbey Trophy) held at Faversham BC on Sunday 25th September. Chilmington Cup This light-hearted end of season competition took place on Sunday 18th September. 1st Prize went to Ian Morton (42 pts), 2nd Prize to Linda Warner (40pts) and 3rd Prize to Alan Morton (35 pts). Hazel Tong was awarded the ‘Special Prize’. Maidstone Triples League - John Francis Singles Cup At the final on Sunday 11th September, Alan Morton won the cup for Lenham against an opponent from Bearsted. Well bowled, Alan!. Bernard Annand Memorial Shield On Sunday 4th September Lenham took part in the Bernard Annand Memorial Shield Finals Day at Herne Bay BC. After a tight match against Margate in the Semi Finals, Lenham won the Final against Folkestone Park. This is the second time Lenham have won the competition, having also managed it in 2009. For more information about this competition click here Maidstone Triples League Lenham A finished the season as Division 2 Champions, thus gaining promotion at the first attempt and returning to Division 1 next season. Lenham B finished mid-table in Division 2. Carol & Lydia Almost Pulled It Off! Carol Morton and Lydia Munn came desperately close to winning the National 55 And Over Ladies Pairs title at Leamington Spa on Sunday 7th August. Well Done Julie! Congratulations to Julie Parker who won the County Officers Cup at the County Finals Day on Saturday 16th July at Milton Regis.
